MIT

Welcome to the web site for current and prospective postdoctoral scholars. MIT has a dynamic academic community which includes over 800 postdoctoral scholars working in all five Schools and in the Vice President for Research area. Postdoctoral scholars hold doctoral degrees and pursue a program of research and training under the direction of an MIT faculty member.

This site contains information useful to newcomers to MIT and the Boston/Cambridge area, as well as information on MIT policies and procedures, resources available at MIT, and positions available.

MIT's Provost and Vice President for Research are committed to improving the quality of life for postdoctoral scholars, and have staff members actively working with an Advisory Council of Postdocs on policy issues, resources for postdocs, and planning social and education events and activities.

Provost L. Rafael Reif

"Having begun my own professional career as an MIT postdoc, I take special pleasure in welcoming you to MIT and to this website. The postdoc experience can have elements of challenge, opportunity, great accomplishment and, I hope, great enjoyment. I look forward to meeting many of you and to helping make that hope a reality."
