The staff of the Public Service Center (PSC) has lots of special projects, and more seem to appear every week. If you're innovative, flexible, organized, and self-motivated, and you have excellent communication skills and a desire to help the PSC grow and improve, apply to work with us on a variety of projects.
Position Description: Projects will include working on a range of program and event activities, particularly planning the annual service fair to be held on September 12, assisting the CityDays and Freshman Urban Program coordinators with logistics, developing resources for potential volunteers, helping the PSC develop its wiki for staff use, and creating FilemakerPro databases to manage PSC contacts and information.
General office duties include assistin with receptionist greeting and telephone duties, creating PSC materials for publication, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, updating databases, helping to post bulletin boards, and other special projects as assigned.
Qualifications: Must have strong writing and computer skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as a sharp attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. Must be able to work in a busy office with a diverse staff. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Filemaker Pro is a must, as is basic wiki editing skills and previous office experience. An understanding of basic accounting and an interest in community service programming is a plus.
