The MIT Public Service Center seeks a webmaster with technical skills to maintain and update our growing web site. The individual will work as
part of a team with the Web Programmer, working under the direction of a professional staff member. Regular duties will include:
- Frequently posting news headlines and text, updating program announcements and information, updating our events calendar, and editing and updating photographs across the site
- Removing out-of-date information and posting new information across the site
- Creating and maintaining online forms and form data
- Seeking out and posting additional content
- Working on implementation of new sections and program pages
We are seeking a person with highly proficient web building technical skills who has the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about MIT web server capabilities and accessibility standards
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Server Side Includes
- Proficiency with coding HTML in a plain text editor
- Expertise in current internet standards, including web browsers, browser specifications, and the ability to test on both the Macintosh and PC platforms
- Experience with image editing applications, ie. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator desirable
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn PHP is a plus
- Organized, motivated, self-starter. Able to anticipate needs.
- Comfortable communicating with supervisors
We are looking for someone to start immediately, and there is potential for summer and fall employment. You must be able to work in a busy office with a friendly, fun, and diverse staff.
