Web Programmer

The MIT Public Service Center seeks a Web Programmer to maintain, update,
and develop additional functionality on our growing web site. The individual
will work as part of a team with the Webmaster, working under the direction
of a professional staff member. Regular duties will include:
- Creating and maintaining online forms and form data
- Working collaboratively with the Webmaster to implement new sections, and
adding functionality to PSC site
- Developing associated websites as needed
- Maintaining and updating the MIT Outreach Database
Work time is flexible -- some can take place out of the office at times you
prefer -- and our staff is friendly, fun, and diverse. Also, this work will
enable you to help MIT students as well as people in underserved communities
worldwide.
We are interested in these attributes:
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about MIT web server capabilities and accessibility standards
- Knowledge of web scripting languages: HTML, XHTML, CSS, Javascript
- Proficiency with coding HTML in a plain text editor
- Knowledge of PHP
- Knowledge of current internet standards, including web browsers, browser
specifications, and the ability to test, trouble shoot, and solve bugs on both
the Macintosh and PC Platforms
- Experience with image editing application, i.e. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
- Experience managing website content with initiative to streamline web content
management
- Organized, motivated, self-starter. Able to anticipate needs.
- Comfortable communicating with supervisors, peers, and working as part of
a team
- Demonstration of skills with a portfolio required.
We are looking for someone to start immediately. You must be able to work
in a busy office with a friendly, fun, and diverse staff.
