The best part of my job is the learning: how to work effectively with students who are passionate about innovation; understanding the intersections of innovation and entrepreneurship; how, combined, the two processes influence community development and contribute to the day-to-day well being of people. MIT is an incredible place to learn, experiment, and adapt – and for me, the IDEAS Competition provides an excellent vehicle for this kind of learning cycle.
Outside the office, when I'm looking for a little fun, I'll make some art - collage on wood panel - or take my 6-year old daughter out fishing, for a hike, swim or movie. In the winter, there's nothing to compare to a quiet back country ski in the deep woods of Vermont followed by a candle-lighted meal around a table full with friends.
I was drawn to work for the Public Service Center out of a long-standing commitment to pursuits at the intersection of innovation, education, and entrepreneurship. My role as the IDEAS Competition Program Administrator at MIT synthesizes very well my passions around art, technology and participation in community development. Being able to pursue these interests within the context of one of the world's leading centers of innovation has been a source of ongoing learning and a real thrill.
