Develop a database system for a nonprofit in Boston's Chinatown

ACCESS (American Chinese Christian Educational & Social Services)
244 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA

We are a Christian nonprofit in Boston's Chinatown teaching and serving recent immigrants as well as their families. We teach English to adults, have an after-school and summer program for elementary school students.  Our mission is to empower recent immigrant families. We also hope to further the understanding of both the American and Chinese cultures for each generation and to encourage access to this multicultural society and to each other within the family.

The Challenge

Our non-profit runs with over 40% of our funds coming from donors, most of which are individuals. We currently have old Excel spreadsheets keeping track of these donations and the donors. What we could really use is a Microsoft Access spreadsheet tailored for the needs of our program.

We have a similar need within our programs to have a database to keep track of our students. We would love to move into the current technological age in all of this, rather than the piecemeal operations we currently have.

At ACCESS, you would have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the daily operations of our organization using your database skills. You will also experience first hand the ins and outs of working in a non-profit.
