Air Liquide is the world leader in gases for industry, health and the environment with presence in 80 countries around the world. The Group offers innovative solutions based on continuously enhanced technologies. We produce air gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, rare gases, etc.) and many other gases, including hydrogen. Our strategy should serve the world's most important challenges. To meet these challenges, Air Liquide develops innovative technologies and sustainable solutions, optimizing the use of air and the planet's natural resources, enabling progress and preserving life.
One way Air Liquide enables progress is by reaching out to people and markets with unmet needs. To this end our innovation unit, i-Lab, is investigating how our technologies can be adapted to social business to meet the needs of individuals and small businesses at the bottom of the pyramid.
The research site is in Paris, France. There may be further opportunity to travel for projects.
i-Lab needs a bright, development-oriented mind to inject new ideas on what real needs of real people in the communities around us can be met by Air Liquide products under a feasible social business model. We have the business and technical skills; what we lack is the on-the-ground knowledge and participatory background that is fundamental to technology and development at MIT. There are rising projects to contribute to if your interests and skills match with the needs at the time, including 1) sachet packaging and distribution of hydroalcoholic gel and 2) low-cost gas packaging and distribution. There is also a need to identify the next challenge (is it in healthcare? is it in energy? is it a need for which we haven't yet thought of how to apply gas?).
This is an internship where you can combine experience in development and emerging markets with exposure to innovation in a corporate environment. Supporting you will be our team at i-Lab and their contacts throughout Air Liquide. Our social business expert is an MIT and D-Lab alum. Air Liquide is like MIT in its entrepreneurial spirit: if you can convince someone you have a great idea and can make it happen, we will find the resources to make it reality.
Air Liquide will provide travel, a stipend and lunch everyday
