Air Liquide is the world leader in gases for industry, health and the environment with presence in 80 countries around the world. The Group offers innovative solutions based on continuously enhanced technologies. We produce air gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, rare gases, etc.) and many other gases, including hydrogen. Our strategy should serve the world's most important challenges. To meet these challenges, Air Liquide develops innovative technologies and sustainable solutions, optimizing the use of air and the planet's natural resources, enabling progress and preserving life.
One way Air Liquide enables progress is by reaching out to people and markets with unmet needs. To this end our innovation unit, i-Lab, is investigating how our technologies can be adapted to social business to meet the needs of individuals and small businesses at the bottom of the pyramid.
The research site is in Paris, France. There may be further opportunity to travel for projects.
i-Lab needs a bright, development-oriented mind to join us for two projects in innovation for healthcare at the Bottom of the Pyramid. On-the-ground knowledge and participatory skills are fundamental to learning technology and development at MIT, and apply to our activities as well.
Two on-going projects need your skills and your ideas: 1) sachet packaging and distribution of hydroalcoholic gel for hand hygiene. This project has business model and materials challenges. 2) development of a low-cost oxygen offer for health care access points in the developing world. This project has opportunities to apply your skills in mechanical or chemical engineering and to develop a new business model.
With i-Lab, you can combine experience in development and emerging markets with exposure to innovation in a corporate environment. Supporting you will be our team at i-Lab and their contacts throughout Air Liquide. Our social business expert is an MIT and D-Lab alum. Air Liquide is like MIT in its entrepreneurial spirit: if you can convince someone you have a great idea and can make it happen, we will find the resources to make it reality.
This offer is for summer 2014.
