Apply to be a ReachOut tutor for the Fall 2008 semester! Fill out this application and return it to the Public Service Center (4-104) by Friday, September 12 at 3 p.m. All new tutors must attend an orientation on Friday, September 12, from 3:30–4:30pm in room 4-145.
Reading scores across the country show that kids are struggling with reading. From the results of young students in Cambridge who took the 2006 Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System test in the subject of reading and language arts:
Co-sponsored by the MIT Public Service Center and the MIT Student Employment Office, ReachOut recruits, trains, and matches tutors with children identified as needing help with reading.
In addition, ReachOut is a federal work study eligible program. Students who meet the requirements for federal work study funds can be paid for providing this valuable community service.
