Help launch a start-up NGO, Flying Physicians International

flyingphysicians.org

General Background

Flying Physicians International, or FPI, is a nascent humanitarian nonprofit that will launch missions in response to health and environmental disasters.  International missions will focus on the continents of Africa and Asia.  Domestic missions will address geographically isolated and medically underserved communities within the United States, with a special interest in serving on Native American Reservations.

The Challenge

FPI is a brand new 501 c3 nonprofit organization, incorporated in 2007. So far they have undertaken missions within the US, but they currently lack the organizational resources they need to work internationally.  FPI is looking for a Fellow to help them develop their funding resources, strategies, and business model to enable them to launch international humanitarian missions. FPI’s most urgent needs include: the procurement of skilled board members, foundation and grant research, and the creation of a business plan for venture philanthropy purposes.

The project location will be in the US, but the exact location has not yet been determined.

Qualifications and Assets

Interested parties should be equipped with the skills necessary to launch a start up enterprise, which would make an MBA student with entrepreneurial experience most helpful.  Applicants should be people who will thrive while working in a start-up environment as part of a small team with few resources.
