Grant Writing Tips

The application formats are listed above, so you can select the type that best fits your needs. To write a successful application, follow these few guidelines:

  • Make your application complete and concise. Ask someone to read it and give you constructive feedback before you turn it in.
  • Submit a detailed, unpadded budget that includes information on where else you're applying, for what amounts, and any other funding you've already received.
  • Read your final draft over to make sure everything is correct. Errors make you look bad and slow down the process.
  • Be prepared to discuss your request at a follow-up interview.
