Community Service Work-Study

For Students

If you are eligible for Federal work-study through financial aid, why not consider working for a non-profit? Community service work-study positions can be found in the Cambridge/Boston area and, during IAP and summer, you may be able to work in another part of the country, in your hometown or elsewhere. The wages for these positions are comparable to those for on-campus positions and they have the added benefit of allowing students to work for the community, often in areas relevant to their course of study. These positions are also very attractive to employers because they only have a pay a portion of a student's wage!

Through a community service work-study position you could:

  • Design a new website for a community organization
  • Mentor a child in math and science
  • Do environmental research
  • Help a small agency with fundraising events
