Selection Criteria for Internships and Fellowships
- Demonstrated potential for sustainable benefit to an under-served community
- Evidence of strong motivation to carry out the project
- Demonstrated potential for effective community partner-student relationship
- Project seems realistic and feasible: scope matches student qualifications, time frame, community partner expertise and input
- Student demonstrates an appropriate understanding of safety issues and has a realistic safety plan
- Potential for the student's growth/educational value convincingly explained
- Application contains sufficient information and makes a good case: complete packet, good proposal, appropriate qualifications, strong faculty recommendation, community partner letter of support
Internships only
- The project will enable the intern to a) explore public service career possibilities and/or b) gain experience necessary for developing intensive service projects in the future
