Get a grant
Service learning grants support student work on service learning projects.
Service Learning Grants are available to MIT students or teams of students in all graduate and undergraduate classes. Service Learning Grants are typically under $500. Larger grants may be offered under special circumstances. Students can also apply to the general PSC grant pool for additional funding.
Service learning grants can help to pay for expenses related to project development and delivery. Some common expenses include:
- travel to community sites
- equipment for building projects
- project materials
- books and resource materials
Service Learning Grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis. We encourage you to apply as early as possible. An early application can increase your chances of funding.
You should use the grant application form cover page and application form. Once you complete your application, you should review it with your professor or instructor, and ask her or him to forward it to our Service Learning Coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org) with a statement saying they approve of your proposal.
Grant recipients must submit a short report and any relevant photographs showing how the funds were spent and what they accomplished with the funding. Funds that are not used in the time allotted will revert back to the service learning account. Grant recipients must also agree to participate in our evaluation process.
