Thank you to everybody that participated in MIT Giving Tree 2015! This year we were able to provide 938 gifts to children throughout the Cambridge and Boston area.
Thank you to our collaborating agencies for all of the great work they do in our community: The Guidance Center, Cambridge Family & Children’s Service, Elizabeth Peabody House, Nurtury, East End House, DCF Kids Fund, Cradles to Crayons, Horizons for Homeless Children, Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House, and Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Each holiday season, the MIT Giving Tree campaign allows students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to provide gifts to children who are disadvantaged in the Cambridge and Boston area. We work with local service organizations to provide gifts to the children they work with. We also collect gift cards for specific needs, and will collect general donation items, including toilet paper, dental hygiene essentials, first aid items, and socks. To contribute, stop by 4-104 to pick up a gift tag. You can start a drive in your dorm or department, purchase a gift with friends, or bring a gift as an individual.
Parents: Please note that the Giving Tree program is unfortunately unable to provide gifts to individual families directly. Instead, we work with ten local social service organizations to provide gifts to the children they work with. Please contact those agencies for more information about whether you may participate in their giving programs.
