Share the joys of winter -- give a gift to a child in need! Whether you’re a student, alumni, faculty, staff, or friend, you can provide gifts to children and families in need throughout Cambridge and Boston.

We've created a video of our 2014 gift room that captures our community's ethic of service. All of the contributions from MIT students, alumni, faculty, and staff allowed us to provide over 700 gifts to children and families served by 10 agencies in the local community. For more information about any of these organizations or to find out how you can help even more, please contact

Giving Tree

Each holiday season, the MIT Giving Tree campaign allows students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to provide gifts to children who are disadvantaged in the Cambridge and Boston area. We work with local service organizations to provide gifts to the children they work with. We also collect gift cards for specific needs, and will collect general donation items, including toilet paper, dental hygiene essentials, first aid items, and socks. To contribute, stop by 4-104 to pick up a gift tag. You can start a drive in your dorm or department, purchase a gift with friends, or bring a gift as an individual.

Parents: Please note that the Giving Tree program is unfortunately unable to provide gifts to individual families directly. Instead, we work with ten local social service organizations to provide gifts to the children they work with. Please contact those agencies for more information about whether you may participate in their giving programs.
