Description
Assist the Public Service Center in encouraging and celebrating students who rally around community service and elevate conversations around service. Help plan and implement all facets of the FSILG&D Community Service Challenge program. Responsibilities include maintaining communication with service leaders, developing and providing students with volunteer resources, promoting service accomplishments, and coordinating events. The student in this position will be shadowing and assisting the current FSILG&D Program Assistant, with the intention of becoming the student lead on the program during the 2013-2014 academic year.

This position is paid $10/hour.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to community service and a strong interest in spreading an ethic of volunteerism. Ability to help shape the Service Challenge and introduce new ideas to the program is essential. You should be organized, responsible, friendly, flexible, and able to work independently and as a team, when necessary. Being familiar with MIT living groups, having connections in these networks, and being attuned to the happenings of campus life is key for this position. Experience planning volunteer and/or philanthropic events is desirable. You should also be comfortable conducting meetings with with fellow students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Timeline
Preference is given to those students who are available to start during IAP. Hours over IAP are flexible, and work can be done remotely. Work 4-6 hours per week in Spring 2013 with ongoing commitment in the next academic year desired.
