In which our heroes ...

We survived a pile of Shards. Yay! We get a fate point.

Orhan 2 Day 36 TE 6061

We head back to the ship and start sailing more went to get to Haeraan's item.

Orhan 2 Day 39 TE 6061

Three days out we are becalmed. After much consternation, Alynna casts Wind Matery I while Oathar casts Favorable current and we are off again! But it's very tiring for Alynna and there's really just no wind. Oathar thinks its pretty unnatural.

Orhan 2 Day 40 TE 6061

Imre examines the area and determine the unnaturally calm winds are the after effects of the massive Essense storm that passed last week.

We're still becalmed, so we current along in the morning and then swim in the afternoon. Haeraan, Imre, and Alynna dive deep! They notice a large finned creature diving up from the depths.

It turns towards them with it's big glowing eyes. People start swimming back up towards the ship. They bounce back up on deck and whatever it is whamms into the bottom of the ship and we spring a leak.

It turns out to be a sea drake. At one point it pounds through the bottom of the ship, grabs a sailor who was manning the bilge pumps and drags him out into the depths leaving a vast hole in the bottom of the ship.

After a few more attacks it turns and heads back down to the deep.

We can't figure out a way to go down two miles to fight the fool thing so we are forced to mark the place on the map and sail on. Sigh.

Orhan 2 Day 43 TE 6061

The crows nest sees a ship in the distance. We sail towards the other poor becalmed ship. There seems to be no activity aboard the ship. We sail on towards it. When we get 900 feet away from it, we check for undead. It is the Mary Celeste, a passenger ship from Kaitaine. It's long boats are still aboard. Curse tales reveals that they were cursed by a Black Ship (TM).

Haeraan neutralizes the curse and we board. We head to the officers quarters. We get to the captain's cabin and Haeraan attempts to pick the lock to the door. He fails, so Kyrik portals the door and Oathar enters. Oathar reads the (no tcursed) captain's log. It's last dated a week ago. They were en route to Malkanar. It says nothing special. In the crew quarters are plates of half eaten food lying uneaten. Beds that were recently slept in. No rats on board either. The animals are all gone too. The captain's pet is similarly missing.

Haeraan thinks the ship is a lure or something. Kyrik looks for ethereal presenses and sees a skeletal pirate watching us. We go back to our ship without looting anything, and burn the cursed ship in our wake. We get 1/3 fate point. We flee!

Orhan 2 Day 46 TE 6061

The doldrums let up and we start sailing again.

Oathar discovers (his first officer tells him) the waybread still they're using to make waybread grog (Waygrog?). Whoa!!! Who knew!

Orhan 2 Day 51 TE 6061

We have a little funeral for Joe the bilgepumper who got eaten by the dragon. +5 morale bonus for everyone for the rest of the voyage due to Oathar's speech at the funeral.

Orhan 2 Day 54 TE 6061

We come to where we think it's time to head to shore and strike off into the Jungle. Kyrik suddenly realizes that this is where the cult of the stars headquarters is. The Tower of Vour sits above the ancient battlefield. Everyone living in the area is a xenophobe. We're doomed.

Aside (administrivia)

Now that we have two Loremasters in the party, the Loremasters are sending us on a few missions to investigate. They encourage us to take some guys to train and cover and evaluate, both them and our leadership skills.

  • Go to Nuyom Kom and check on the status of the war. (Haeraan)
  • Go to Pokantos and contact/assist the resistance. (Kyrik)
  • Go to Lankonok, infitrate, and investigate. (Oathar)
  • Go to Ardania and report in its doings. (Imre)
  • Survey the politics around the Bay of Izar. (Sarnac, Stroane, etc.) (Alynna)

Meanwhile the Pirates of the Spanish Main, Sel-Kai wargames are almost ready.

Level 19 will be a long time coming. 18 is fairly soon.
