In which our heroes ...
Orhan 2 Day 30 TE 6062
Imre summons a navigator and Cornelia shows up. We have a nice dinner
which Imre arranged, and Cornelia chats with Nusmoi and Arisia. It appears
that Cornelia visits every now and then whenever we are out of town. How
odd.
We get down to negotiating our round trip journey. Oathar and Haeraan
do some poking at Cornelia. She's a 19th level illusionist now as expected.
Poor Oathar doesn't even show up on mind typing any more.
Haeraan, Imre, and Cornelia discuss the journey looking for relatively
almost safe areas to stop in. Don't teleport near Ixyia, avoid the Raven
Queen of Galt, dodge the lugraki invasion, veer around the demon infestation
in the Empire of 1000 dawns, etc. It's fairly complicated. It seems the
world is a pretty doomed place.
Kyrik attempts to find us a route that gets us a couple of teleport points.
3.5-4 weeks the fast way. 5-6 weeks with the stopovers. We'll plan to
take the short way home.
Oathar bucks up the morale of his crew ("We're going to the end
of the world! We'll fall off!") by telling them that they'll be hiring
a navigator.
Oathar arranges for Cornelia to escort a second supply ship as well,
for the whole round trip, with her staying behind to guard the ships while
the party is away. Oathar pays for this extravagance with his Navigator
Free Trip Pass that he has been saving since second level.
We plan to leave at dawn in three days.
Kyrik and Imre go to the curch of Valris and get water resistant, fire
resistant books. They buy scrolls of stuff too.
Oathar prays to Neela for guidance on how to deal with Jewel Knights
on Her behalf.
Kyrik commissions a griffin saddle of +20 aerial combat and DB for the
griffin.
Imre goes to the alchemist guild to look for specialized tools. Harry
and Sally can buy the necessary tools from the Alchemist's Guild for like
300 gold. They get a titanium ladle like thing, with a deep lead tray
with indentations, for making gemstones from gem pools. It's highly treated
to be heat resistent, etc.
That night Oathar has a dream. He's a happy dolphin swimming around the
ocean. He rises up to the surface and there he sees a shoreline. In the
shallows is Neela. She reaches down and pulls out a golden chalice which
she hands to a little girl on the shore. The little girl curtseys and
drinks from the chalice. Neela dives into the sea and the little girls
takes the chalice and sits there on the beach. Later on, a ship is in
a storm. The storm rages and a whitsling ringing sound and a hail of glittering
bits envelope the ship which is shredded. Out the back of the ship the
golden chalice gets swept up into the hail of little bits. It goes up
into the sky and winks out. Then he sees a barren rocky dessert, and a
cloud comes by and the whisling sound comes back and a chalice falls out
of the sky and hits the ground, and it lies there. The chalice still has
water in it. A seed on the ground draws on the water from the chalice
and grows into a solitary tree in the dessert.
Imre gets a dream too. He gets an insect hive of bees. At the entrance
is a bee. Tree sap falls on it and it gets stuck. It turns to amber and
the bee is preserved and alive in the amber as vast time passes. It's
unable to escape the amber.
Orhan 2 Day 31 TE 6062
We tell Gireg Jan we're headed to Folenn. Gireg Jan says to not bring
back anything that moves on it's own. The Agothu have influences on things
there. Just don't bring anyone back.
Imre has a long discussion about the future with Nusmoi. There's not
really going to be any settling down anytime soon.
Orhan 2 Day 32 TE 6062
The boat gets blessed. The sailors get a blessing. Arisia brings the
kids to say bye. Nusmoi blesses the boat, but his doesn't reassure the
sailors. The priest of Valris blesses the boat. The preist of Rianne blesses
the boat. Cornelia our navigator shows up. Oathar gets all riled up as
Cornelia starts giving orders to the crew. Cornelia gives Oathar a give
floppy Admiral's hat, black with a raven's feather. The Monkey Business,
our aux power to cargo ship follows behind teh flagship, the Righteous
Current. We set sail for Folenn.
