Session 191

In which our heroes ...

Orhan 5 Day 9 TE 6061

We get to Izar!! Hooray!

As we pull into Izar, we nitice it's quite bustling. The light house of Izar is quite nice. Actually, there are two.

We deply in the standard formation. Jonquil heads to talk to the merchant classes, while Magellan and Tess head to the seedy bars. Tess casts Guises on herself, and Jonquil disguises her over that.

Tess rolls her second consecutive 66 when tasting mother's milk so she gets into her roll quickly. There are rumors of lugraki in the hills. The tailors and leatherworkers guilds are warring. They've got thugs going after each other's shops, etc. The underworld is making a killing on the war. The original dispute was over leather clothing. After an influx of this cool new leather. Cool.

Meanwhile, Magellan charms a sailor and gives him a hard luck tale about guys stealing his girl, so he can extract Tess when it all goes bad.

In a better part of town, Jonquil, is looking to find a work as a bard for the evening with a little singing and tale-telling and trying to get the crowd talking. In passing, he invents Karioki. He also gets 16 silver for his troubles. The merchant here are down on the Selkai merchant houses apparently. They complain of lugraki and bandits on the nearby roads. There also seem to be trade routes opening up in the center of Haestra. Those crazy folks in Santagrad or whatever. They're apparently getting uppity.

Alynna goes to the temple of Cay. A priest comes out and says "Ah ha. We've been waiting." They head in around to the back where the living quarters are and in a little side chapel is a very old blind monk. "You have come. I sense a disturbance. Like insects, they breed beneath the ground. Soon they will swarm." We assume he's talking about the lugraki. We must investigate the extent of their black hive. It has been fortold. Amongst the stink of the standing water, betiwxt that and the hills, you will find the dark heart. Slay it and return. Let others know of this as well. either on your way to slay it, or on your return. Show them proof and they will arm themselves. All must fight them, but will not believe unless they have proof. (The leaders of Sarnak and Ventara, as well as the fools who run this city (Izar)).

Alynna is quite pleased to get a quest from an ancient master. Take these, they may help you. He hands her a case filled with scrolls and potions. Filled with healing scrolls and cure disease potions and medicinal herbs, etc. Alynna talks the captain of our ship to figure out how to get closest to there. He suggests heading into Bentara and hiring a guide and a swamp boat. He says they can leave the day after tomorrow.

Magellan attempts to extract Tess from her "talkative friend". The talkative guy doesn't want to let her go, but Magellan's friend starts a bar fight and they escape in the confusion. We make our way back to near the ship where we can undisguise ourselves. Then they head back on board the ship.

Poor Tess returns to the ship smashed once more. Sigh. Poor Alynna. She briefs Magellan on the heart of darkness quest in the swamps. Alynna gives everyone the night off, we leave in two days.

Jonquil goes out on the town to find out more about the wailing swamp. She finds out that a caravan from Ventara recently came from there. There are strange things that go on in that swamp. The inhabitants are amphibian humanoids. They live in villages and huts throughout the swamp. They are called Merlocs. He asks for a guide recommendation, and gets Old Stampy.

Orhan 5 Day 10 TE 6061

A new day dawns and Tess starts out by casting her hangover cure on herself. Alynna has her go buy some nice clothing.

Since Jonquil got a reccommendation last night, she gets the whole day off today.

Magellan gets sent off to investigate more deeply into the Lugraki situation. He finds a caravan heading out that way that is recruiting caravan guards. He encounters a guys who "recognizes" him. "Ambrose! How are you?" He reminises. "Ambrose" doesn't. In any case, they chat and Magellan finds out that the lugraki are getting organized by "the chosen one" down in the swamp. They apparently keep merloc slaves.

"Ambrose" has not gone to see "her" yet, so he's probably going to generate some entertainment value. "Charon hath no fury like a woman scorned." You really shouldn't ask women to marry you and then leave for three or four years. The local populace is betting on whether or not he'd survive the reunion. He flees and disguises himself. Jonquil stays behind to interrogate the crowd about "Ambrose's" history.

Alynna and Tess go shopping to investigate the guild hall debate. At Alynna's reccomendation, they go to the nicest tailors they can find. Madame invites them in and tries to set them up with clothing. Sadly, her taste is atroscious so we leave her shop. So next they go to LeatherWorld. There they find. There, they go to the back room and find the premium black leather. With whips and masks and corsets and stuff.

He brings out a pair of undead leather gloves. They call to Tess. Alynna says that quantities are what she is looking for, and the proprietor is interested. They'll have to talk to their suppliers. A couple hundred sets in a couple of weeks. Mr. X says that he will be happy to oblige. Alynna grabs the free sample from Tess.

Alynna and Tess head back to the ship and meditate over the gloves. Tess breaks and tries to grab them, but Alynna see her and puts them back in the center. Tess finally casts Detect Evil on them. It turns out they are in fact a little bit evil. They take the gloves to the Temple of Eissa. The priestess seems kind of dubious, but it turns out they are an abomination and they must be destroyed.

Back on the ship, Magellan reveals the horrible truth that he doesn't really remember anything. Of course, Sally is coming to kill him tonight, so it probably doesn't matter.

Alynna heads to the dock where Tess has noticed a lone cloaked figure buring with hatred. Alynna attempt to engage the woman in conversation.

Sally swears Ambrose will be dead by the dawn, and Alynna says she can make all teh threats she likes, but she has better not set foot on the ship.
