In which our heroes ...
Orhan 5 Day 23 TE 6061
Jonquil tries to find out just how doomed Gyris will be when it's discovered
he's a man posing as a woman, casting evil spells. The plan is mostly,
that there will be a trial and then he'll be executed. The whole process
will probably take a couple of days.
We could try to get him extradited if we were to represent some actual
state.
Alynna disguises herself as someone possibly related to Gyris and Alynna
and Jonquil start plan, "let's try and bribe people to get him out
of jail."
They go to the jail and lay the sob story on some guards and stuff. The
guards are shocked, SHOCKED!, that nice elves like this might be related
to someone charged with impersonnating a woman. The humiliation to our
family will be horrible. PLEASE! You've got to let us deal with this privately.
Oh woe! The guards are reccommending castrationg before execution to expunge
the stain to their honor. Hmmm.. That seems odd.
The captain is feeling generous though, so they'll let them talk to him.
Alynna and Jonquil are taken back into the super secure cell of doom.
Behind the secure door is another couple of cells and he's lying there
unconscious with a big metal helmet on his head. They can't get into the
cell, but play up how ashamed they are.
The captain takes them aside and says she might be able to let the prisoner
go if, for instance, the party were to capture one of the rebel men known
to be associated with the thieves guild.
Luckily, he can't be tried until he's awake and stuff, so we probably
have four or five days to infiltrate and betray the underground.
We decide the thing to do is bring Ambrose, the Liberator with us.
So we go to the bar where we met the theives guild and ask a wandering
bard (Jonqil) to play the Ambrose song. Then he gets scared by the crowd
reaction so plays the Xena warrior princess song. She's totally off script.
Then Jonqil saunters over to the bar and apologizes to the bartender.
The bartender says that playing that song can get you stabbed outright
in some bars. Then she leaves.
Some guys come in and sit at a nearby table. Magellan reads their minds.
They are checking us out. We don't know if they are secret police or underground.
So Tess says some things about Ambrose while Magellan reads their minds.
Magellan shifts around abit so they notice he only has one arm.
Then Tess and Magellan head upstairs and sit around in room seven waiting
to be contacted.
After a small comedy of errors with knocking on walls, we eventually
get the guys to come in and talk to us. We dance around a bit, but eventaully
get down to it. We're not Ambrose, sigh. He confesses to being mind wiped.
Sigh. They don't think anyone would make up a story like that. He introduces
Tess, who is a novice of Eissa.
Then it all goes to heck. Alynna figures out that Jonquil is a half-orc,
Magellan buys into the whole Ambrose thing and contemplates overthrowing
the city, Tess gets drunk, Gyris wakes up in his mage helmet and ponders
his situation.
Meanwhile, our friend Gyris starts his spell trickery with his helmet
thing, and tries to escape just before his interrogation. They stab him
again, and knowck him out. At least he's avoided the interrogation.
After all that discussion, we decide to just spring him as they walk
him to the gallows in a couple of days.
Orhan 5 Day 24 TE 6061
The next day is the trial. Gyris is brought to the trial and they start
reading the evidence against him. It turns out he's actually evil. Oh
dear. (Tess is there taking notes.)
During the trial he manages to Transfer souls with one of the judges.
Oh yeah, he's evil. From his new judicial vantage point he starts plotting
his escape. Seeing it's pretty hopeless, he starts trying to Dominate
the other judges. "If I can control all three bodies, I'll be innocent".
He manages to Dominate one of the judges. Gyris's lawyer says "objection".
All eyes turn to Gyris/judge who says "sustained".
After closing arguments, the judges will retire for deliberation. They
enter the plushly appointed deliberation room. The free judge starts disrobing.
Gyris/judge tells her that she can handle the rest of the trial by herself.
The two judges come back without the third one. It's an open and shut
case. The guard calls court back into session. "We have completed
our deliberations and decided that the accused is not guilty for reasons
we can not disclose in an open courtroom. The prisoner is to be released
at once." At that travesty, one of the judges breaks free and the
body swap reverses!
The guards have started unlocking Gyris when the judge says, "Wait
a minute, stop him!" just as Gyris gets off a minor long door. Then
he sprints for it!
A chase through the streets ensues. One he eludes them, he gets rid of
his helmet turns into a women, and strolls off.
Tess briefs the boss on what happened, when suddenly, the town crier
wanders by announcing the 1000 gold piece bounty on his head.
Alynna and Tess head to meet the directorate, while Magellan preps the
ship for departure, while Jonquil wander around undisguised hoping to
be contacted.
The directorate is too busy to deal with us, so reschedules our meeting
for tomorrow.
Gyris sidles up to Jonquil fairly obviously. They talk and arrange a
meeting elsewhere.
Jonquil reports to the boss, and then goes to the meet. The boss moves
our HQ back to the ship.
Jonquil goes off to meet Gyris.
Now there are posters with Gyris's face on them all over town.
Everyone but Gyris goes back to the ship.
Gyris slips aboard later.
Orhan 5 Day 25 TE 6061
The directorate is impressed with Alynna's presentation.
It's time to leave, and an inspection team is going to be coming aboard.
They search the ship. Gyris is like the night.
We sail off. Ne'er to return.
