The party divides up some of the herbs to keep it safe from fireball
attack. Then they headback down to the landing.
Orhan 4 Day 39 TE 6052
They arrive without incident at the landing! Hooray! Even the mule doesn't
cause troubles. Haeraan explains the Trogli mining silver to Oathar. (They'll
show up with silver and information for the town guard every once in a
while. We should give them useful stuff, and possibly support a missionary
or two later on.) Lugraki have an iron mine and the party a silver mine.
We board the Blue Mermaid. We set sail for Lethys! The deep water
route.
Orhan 4 Day 42 TE 6052
A few days after we set sail, Vallandra notices that the ring of communication
with bad guys has started vibrating. She turns pale as she realizes the
evil Dyar voice belongs to the head of her house! She answers the ring
in Critiri and identifies herself. He switches to Critiri too. He wonders
what Vallandra is doing on the other end of the ring.
After a brief interrogation, he tells her that her house has been involved
in recent negotiations with a faction of Dyar from a secret underground
city. Initially they were conducting trade with them, but now they may
have the chance to have an entire city of them allied with their house.
The dark elf that Vallandra slew was one of their contacts. Dark elves
are useful for a numbe rof reasons, both as spy on the underground and
as trading partner for difficult to obtain items. Sadly, the good elves
have had to accept certain unsavory practices on the part of the Dyars,
but will probably be able to restrain them from really bad things and
generally keep tabs on what they are doing. Once at Halkataine, Vallandra
is orders to go home. As she'll need to talk with her lord. He'll contact
her again in a week.
Not knowing what do do, Vallandra confides in Imre. He thinks perhaps
they should tell the others. They eventually tell everyone. D. thinks,
"Hey! The mystic in Imre's tarot reading indicates that the leader
of her house has been killed and replaced by a mystic." We find this
a much more promising sign than the tower inverted which is quite prominent
in the reading.
We discuss for a while what to do. Oathar gives a little talk about trading
ships and how well they'd be seen. We decide to sleep on it. Haeraan goes
to get some sleepy time. Haeraan has some weird inverted Mayan pyramid
dream. There are two pyramids one inverted and one shadowy. The shadoy
figure on top touches the Loar on the top of the other pyramid and they
switch places. Loars are running up and down the Loar pyramid, and the
shadowy guys all congregate at the bottom and look down. It makes no sense
at all, but Imre and Kyrik explain it.
Orhan 4 Day 52 TE 6052
Vallandra is called back and tells her dark master that we'll be back
in just under a month. Her dark master says he'll contact again in a few
days.
Orhan 4 Day 56 TE 6052
She gets called again. He confirms that she's alone. (She's not.) He
tells her to go due downwind when the airship arrives and climb up the
ladder. Suddenly, an airship arrives. Oathar hits his panic button. We
debate quickly what to do. We decide to use the classic plan and walk
into the trap, spring the trap, and then fight our way out. We send some
messages to Griffin college with the first officer. We also send the spare
plant on to Haalkitaine without us in case we don't make it. She calls
her dark master. He tells her to just get on the ship. Vallandra starts
climbing up the ladder. Haeraan gets in to see some stuff.
Vallandra is introduced to the Dyar in charge. Meanwhile a bomb is dropped
onto the boat. We deflect it, but it still manages to destroy the main
mast. Ship to ship combat ensues. Vallandra tries to kill her attacker.
Imre works on extinguishing the mainmast while Oathar teleports Haeraan
into the airship. Meanwhile Kyrik is flying up the the hatch of the airship.
Imre takes this moment to summon the Angel of Death. The Little Sister
of Death shows up. Meanwhile Vallandra achieves victory over her foe.
As she's standing over her defeated enemy, the Little Sister of Death
blasts through the floor and says, "Come sister, I'm here to save
your soul." She then used her cute little scythe to destroy the soul
of the defeated Dyar. Vallandra runs like mad.
In the mean time D. is taking out lift balloons. Around this time, the
crew of the airship, who realize they are losing pull the emergency skuttle
the ship levers. Oh dear. Haeraan who is mind-controling other crew members
a lot, orders them to turn right.
Vallandra abandons the dying airship. The little sister of death scares
some more people and then more people abandon ship. The airship is sucessfully
abandoned.
Vallandra throws the ring overboard. We rescue some elves for questioning.
