Session 387

In which our heroes ...

Orhan 3 Day 70 TE 6063

The main thing we need to get is the device that allows you to mimic her signature (The Linaen), but other divices worth mentioning are the Narsirubaen, a set of weapons that create an energy bubble that can imprison anyone, including the Ishru. At this point, Alynna gets a message from Cay, "Get as many as you can."

The loremaster assures us that Mahari Ridane is not conscious in her captivity, so is unlikely to be insane after all of these years. Releasing her should be totally safe.

The ataza named Bathym is the one who built the Linaen and he's works for Sachiel. The linaen looks like a crystalline hand.

We get a map briefing of where the four caches of Mahari Ridane are:

  • The Temple of the Search in the Plains of Gamesh - a tall obelisk in a generous plaza
  • The Temple of the Beginning - a gazebo in the medows of Aenan.
  • The Temle of Forging - floating on the liquids of Lake Lebaen (don't drink from the lake).
  • The Temple of the Death Fight - Concentric circles of metal among the desert sands.

We don't want the bad guys to get any of those.

Each of the ataza holds one key to the six locks at the gates, but that doesn't quite do anything while the Kirzalaen is broken.

We decide to take the little girl Cheru back to Stonedepin. We teleport back to the house in Stonedepin with Cheru and it's a big thing and we are heroes. The young woman Arzaena confirms that we are the good guys. Yay! The offer a pair of Star Saphires about the size of a grape. Each is worth about 50 gold here or 1000 each on the surface. We get a few of the adults to "teach" us the language.

While we are learning languages, Imre and Haeraan turn into sand lions to go scout.

Orhan 4 Day 1 TE 6063

A Taza patrol tries to capture Haeraan and Imre in tehir sand lion forms. Imre scares msot fo them away, but the last one throws a net on Imre. He then throws another net on him. The Imre scares him away snd shortdoors out of the nets. Their scouting continues. In the distance, they see a tall grey spire jutting up out of the desert. there's a hexagonal plaza with a hexagonal spire. There a stariway that circles the spire all the way to the top. At the top is some form of statue. Even now, two figures are climbing the stairwell. There's also some writing on the obelisk. The writing on the obelisk looks like it's a familiar one, not an unknown one.

Haeraan teleports up to the top of the tower ahead of them. There's a statue of a woman up there. Imre leaves to 100 yards from the tower. It's in Iruaric. It says, "Even before the release of the demons evil sprites cavorted amidst... blah blah blah." It's a story of Mahari's first fights against evil.

Meanwhile, the two travelers heading up the tower are wearing Sachiel's colors. When they get to the top, Haeraan chops him. This of course kills him. Imre sleeps the second one, causing him to fall off the tower. Haeraan casts Landing on him as he falls. Haeraan goes down to investigate. The guy who fell off the tower has a bunch of supplies in his pack and a wooden box. Inside is a delicate crystal hand. Imre discovers that the crystal hand presents the DNA sequence of a particular person to a scanning device. That's pretty much all it does.

Imre teleports the survivor a couple dozen miles north after casting forget on him. Then they touch the hand to the statue and a door appears in the back of the statue. Inside is a silver band lying there. It has a mesh connected to it, so it's like a headband with a mesh beret on top. It alerts wearer to the presense of Ishru, taz, or ataza within 1000 feet. conveys to wearer the surface thoughts of Ishru and their servants within 100 feet. It also gives +20 RR versus Mind reading. It doesn't interfere with spellcasting. and when worn with gauntlet, gives 50% crit negation against eyes.

They start heading for the next cache.

Orhan 4 Day 2 TE 6063

We get to the gazebo temple. Engraved on the floor is another tale of Mahari. In the center is the statue of a girl. Sadly, there's a blond woman sitting on the steps to the Gazebo.

Her name is Serchia Crae. She's got a Loremaster ring. She's a loremaster who used ot be a navigator. She's about 8000 years old. She talked to Jaezel. She explains how complicated the current politics are. Gadrel and Satarchian are the two Ishru who remain threats if released. She suspects there are more powers at work than just her. For instance, Jaezel didn't mention the Ordium Novus, yet another secret group among th Ataza. They believe in a new enlightened order, and will use the Narsilbaen to trap the Ishru and raise Jaezel to rule Gathaena. She thinks at least one four way pitched battle is inevitable. Gadrel and Satarchian couple probably be defanged in another millenia or so, but there's clearly no longer time to finish that.

The Narsilobaen are kep tin the great gates.

We touch the hand to the statue and a little compartment opens. An arm greave of silver. It has clips to secure it to the forearm. It is +25 RR Essense, it's 50% chance of essense attack spells store (up to 10 spells absorbed) and recast, when used with gauntlet +20 versus radioactive emmisions and other byproducts of forging.

While we are talking, an ataza rides up. Iblis is her name. She's with the Combata and wants to work together with us. She assures us Bathym has not yet opened any caches. She's got a huge host of taza at her command. She's totally ready to start the war.

OK, we'll bring her along for a while.
