In which our heroes ...

Orhan 3 Day 32 TE 6064

They came from the far-away place long ago, to escape the troubles. We are demoralized and almost retreat, but Imre tarries on the shore, waiting around in case Oathar can somehow convince us to destroy the idyllic paradise. Three days ‘til the Salufa tree.

We debate how to get rid of the spider helm/mask of evil.

We prepare to go to deal with our salufa juicing plot.

We head to Haalkitaine to investigate alchemists who might sell scentlessness potions. He buys some, but also finds a pair of scentlessness poitions with permanent duration.

Orhan 3 Day 35 TE 6064

We send Imre down the Salufa Tree Death Trap er.... hole and he finds three Salufa Blossoms. He gathers three pristine Salufa blossoms. Each one will make a full strength Lifegiving IV potion.

Imre emerges with three blossoms. Well, that went well.

Orhan 3 Day 36 TE 6064

We don't want to power up the chosen one before we've dealt with the evil artifact we've been carrying around. So, we head back to the mountains to find some dwarves. We get a guide. The same one we got last time.

We head into the mountains. We dodge the gap swamp as usual.

Orhan 3 Day 36 TE 6064

We get to the other part of the mountains with the dwarves. He heads up to an unremarkable rock outcropping and bangs on it seven times and then waits. After about five minutes, Oathar gets bored and starts making camp. Then a dwarf shows up. Liam the dwarf joins us for dinner.

The dwarves have a good relationship with the rachae, but don't really get along with most everyone else.

The dwarf, Liam, tells us that he could lead us to a rift in the earth down in the ash layers, guarded by a nasty earth/fire demon. We could defeat it and then toss our trinket into the deep depths. He offers to send some dwarves with us in exchange for some of the loot, and we accept.

We camp that night and prepare to head down int he morning. Alynna has two final dreams.

1) She's in a maze, and a figure keeps evading her as she rounds various corners. She hears a scream, but can never catch up toher prey.

2) She's a slug. And she slowly turns a corner and gets totally squished by a giant something moving by.

Orhan 3 Day 37 TE 6064

Liam shows up with a dozen stout dwarves. We descend into the earth.

The dwarves know where they are going and we head towards the great crack. After two days we get to the end of the caverns of the dwarves.

Orhan 3 Day 39 TE 6064

We proceed into the underearth. Here lie the Ash Layers. Now come the great chasms of darkness.

We head down a bit and pick up the scent of underearth lugraki with a troll.

We start encountering statues of lugraki. We suspect medusa. We send the blind fighters in. The rest of us wait back there where it's safe.

They start heading up to the snakeliek sound ahead. There's a lot of attacking. Then the medusa goes down and haeraan cuts her head off and puts it in a burlap sack.

We head further into the depths, and encounter some more lugraki.

We send in the tin cans. There's a mad dash past the lugraki sentries, which the dwarves handle while we charge deeper into the massed lugraki. There's a giant oval shaped cavern with a great black throne in one corner. Behind it is a crack in the ground with a dull red glow coming from it. Sitting on the throne is a demon. He's covered in darkness and flame. At his feet are on the order of ten lugraki or so. One is bound up and about to be eaten, but the demon looks up as we charge in. Yummy snacks have arrived! He picks up a sword and an axe. He's suddenly enveloped in a cloak of darkness. The dwarves decide to hold the door while we fight the demon.

We fight!

The fight doesn't go so well at first, as the balrog is huge and never misses and generally does piles of damage with each swing. We on the other hand, chop a lot and do it some damage, but it doesn't seem to care much.

We start falling behind, and then Imre convinced Haeraan not to resist one of the massive immolations that befalls him. Haeraan listens to Imre and doesn't resist. He's incenerated. We're all a bit confused as to why that was.

Then suddenly, Imre pulls out a Holy Symbol of Extreme Massive Power, and Eissa heals Haeraan right to full. Completely fine, as if just started.

Moments later, Haeraan is consumed in hellfire. Sigh.

Imre sighs, and finally casts major death at it, which blows it up. Hooray!

We check the throne for loots. Oathar finds a pile of mined gold nuggets. Behind the nuggets is a chest. Inside the chest is a subdivided trays with jewelry, then trays of gemstones, finally a wrapped up set of curved twisted metal bars. The metals are a mix of titanium and eog.

We teleport out just as the cave goes up after we drop the artifact into the crack.

We get a fate point!

We get half of the loot. Total is: 10000gp in gold, 10000gp in gems and jewelry (crude), and a portal. Yup. you put those things together and they form a portable portal.
