In which our heroes ...
Orhan 2 Day 50 TE 6053
We are stuck in the Dwarven stronghold. The take most of our stuff, including
things we stole from the guards we killed. (Sigh, incontrovertible evidence.)
We're dragged through the dark into the terrible place of the throne room.
They hate it when we cast spells even to light our own path. The place
looks a lot like Moria.
The throne is gilded and studded with gems. The tapestries are all dwarves
smashing things, or dwarves at work, etc. Shockingly enough, there's a
female dwarf next to the big fat king-like dwarf. She's blindfolded and
probably the seer that told the dwarves we were coming. There are also
numerous dwarves and guards around.
The king asks the seer if we are the ones. The seer says, "You have
killed dwarves. What do you have to say?"
Oathar thinks it's time to accuse them all of serving the Unlife, but
instead, Vallandra says, "We're on a secret mission to visit the
Diar city and we weren't supposed to be seen, but now it's all gone terribly
awry." Oathar finds that odd, but the Seer nods and he asks why we
kill the dwarves. From out of the shadows off to the side a figure strides
in. He's a tall blond guy in dark clothes. He walks up and says, "If
I might interject.?" Then he starts speaking in Dwarven. There's
lot's of pointing and stuff. He tells D. not to worry. Haeraan wonders
what's up with that.
He somehow manages to convince them that we didn't really want to kill
any dwarves. He has to bribe one of the dwarves who really hates us with
Imre's gem of channelling multipliying and detection. Sniff.
We have a deal. "First, you pay them off with your four gems of
power. Then you go look and find out what happened to this poor dwarf
whose son along with some companions was kidnapped and thrown into slavery
or something. We'd have to accept a quest to do this thing." The
blond guy even agrees to accompany us there. sigh. We give up all our
power gems, and get all our other stuff back.
We get led down a set of stairs and off to the side, and then off to
a lounge. Where we interrogate him. His name is C. Oathar glares at D.
Tomorrow we travel to Skystone city using the old couple of us are Dyar
and the rest are servants plan. The city is a big crossroads like a big
X. We'll come in from the south west. One heads to the coast. the other
two paths are not accessible. One leads above ground and the fourth is
a mystery.
C. admits that he was at the castle of too many relatives. See, he works
for the Loremasters, and he has a little compass that points towards D.
He's been stalking D. for years. D. seems to think he's a creepy guy.
He has them bring us food. We eat and drink and rest.
That night, strange shadows come and disturb out watch schedule. People
start worrying about invisible bad guys with too many shadows. Look, a
sword! or something. It's all very confusing. Oather continues to slumber.
Haeraan declares "Declare yourself." The shadows all vanish
and a little rose appears with a note for D.
All return to sleep.
Orhan 2 Day 50 TE 6053
There's a knock at the door. C. is there with servants and breakfast.
We eat. We head out. There's a slight detour to summon Oathar's familiar.
We meet the father of the missing dwarves.Their sons are Klanggedin,
Stonehold, and Torgon. We won't be able to tell which ones they are. Torgon
knows a little Shey at least.
We bring ponies. The carry our stuff.
Orhan 2 Day 51 TE 6053
Oathar attunes the pendant. It lets people locate D. and detect her emotions.
He didn't want to her ler go. She wants him to break it. He refuses. She
says to take the hair out. He says they'll talk about it. It's a little
stalking thing. Even the Loremasters didn't tell him to do it.
"Weren't we happy together?"
"Which part of, 'I hate you and never want to see you again,' didn't
you understand?"
"I figured you'd get over it?"
It's a long long journey. It takes even longer than it seems.
Orhan 2 Day 61 TE 6053
We're travelling along. We come to an underground river. "We must
cross it to continue our journey." Huge chasm, with narrow stone
bridge. Something stompy seems to be coming across the bridge towards
us. It's a cave troll. Oh dear. It seems to resist all of our spells.
The fighters move forward to engage.
We win handily, but Haeraan is grievously wounded.
Orhan 2 Day 62 TE 6053
We proceed onward. But today is the day for us to work out our cover
story. C. can be a Dyar warrior bodyguard, D. can be a Dyar noblewomen.
The rest of us are going to have to be servants and slaves. Vallandra
might be able to be a Dyar. Sadly, servants and slaves aren't allowed
to have armor or weapons since there might be a slave revolt. Dyar D.
is a visiting noble. C. is her bodyguard.
Orhan 2 Day 67 TE 6053
There's some chittering and skittering coming towards us. Several big
bugs approaching. C. moves to the head of the column. Coming towards us
are three giant scorpions. On each one is a Dyar riding it.
C. tells them to let D. pass. "The noble lady Sarathina demands
to pass!" They let us.
Orhan 2 Day 70 TE 6053
There's more of the same, but we mostly get to pass a lot. Now we're
in a regular tunnel that leads up to large massive gates that fill the
cavern. There are peep holes at the ground level. C. demands entrance.
They let us in.
We head through. There a big crossroad with a post in the center. Each
quarter is buildings. We head into the city....
