In which our heroes ...

Orhan 1 Day 46 TE 6054

D. heads into the city ("In the name of the devourer!") to scout. It's pretty much the general necromancer dude ranch right down to the same chits. There's an obelisk in the middle with "Asarak walks among us" inscribed on it, and a nice carving of a devouring face. Yum.

Wandering around, D. meets a merchant who sells her an Anatomy 101 introductory tool kit since the class is no doubt one she'll be interested in taking. He mentions that both Mistress Feranifer and Academician Drake have notable libraries, but he doesn't really know much about such things.

In the center of town is a large skull thing in which the faculty live. D. goes to find a room in the residential area.

Meanwhile, Imre and Oathar notice there's a giant evil field here that would make evil spells easier and paladin spells harder.

After her report, we all don black cloaks and wander in. ("In the name of the Destroy---er...Devourer!") We head to the residential area and hide in D.'s room. D. goes and finds that students all have a skull tatoo on their foreheads. Academician Drake is somewhat scarey apparently. Mistress Feranifer plays favorites. "This lot was buried alive just yesterday!" D. helps dig. You apparently get to be one of Mistress Feranifer's pet students by doing lot's of extra credit work.

We fuss about what to do for a while, whether to break into the skull during the day or night. Imre heads off and discoveres that the skull tatoos are slightly magical, but that's only to make them permanent and difficult to remove. Haeraan takes a nap and gets a swooping birds eye view of inside the skull thing, with the hallway, and the auditorium, and the alcove, and the 9-foot tall black skeleton, the far back hallway with niches, and the secret door in a niche into a small area with a library. It's unclear which niche it was in/behind.

Disguises complete, we wait until sunset. This is when a bunch of will-o-wisp like dim lights appears, but Oathar thinks they are just dim lights, and not to be concerned with. D. goes to scout again inside the skull. Some students head into the auditorium. D. get to lecture late and sits right up front at the instructors insistence. Lo! It is the basic anatomy lecture about the head. He's got a couple up there with him. Complete with eye-popping technique. He's Master Negiss. After the lecture is lab section. "Two people per head. Two heads per table." D. finds a nerdy guy to be her partner so he'll deal with the heads. It's quite heady.

D. heads out and then back again after class. She discoveres the big black skeleton. "To gain complete access to the black academy, you must place your hands in mine." This seems time to head back and report once more.

D. and Imre go out and interrogate more pesky folks.Unfortunately, they fail in their bluff, and their interogee says, "Stop! Imposters!" They flee. People run all around and a huge vampire shows up to deal with it, but luckily, we all escape. We then talk about framing some poor student as an intruder.

Frustrated, we kidnap some poor fool and teleport to the ship. The skeleton seems to be just the admission device. After interrogating him, we kill him and then Haeraan asks for a dream. "Fight, or walk past?" Then he roll a 15. Sigh. He only gets a dream of a morningstar that whirls and whirls until it stops and then a door opens. We decide to bash it.
