Session 60

In which our heroes finally arrive at lost Votania...

Orhan 4 Day 19 TE 6054

The party arrives at Orian. We notice some pickpockets on our way into town, but Haeraan scowls once and they scatter.

The towns has temples of Kour, Phaeon, Mynistra (local), and Andaras (BAH!)

We head to an Inn. It's a nice Inn. Kyrik sort of condescends to the innkeeper, but otherwise it's pleasant.

Haeraan tries to use his ring of detect other "eye guys", but doesn't find any.

Orhan 4 Day 20 TE 6054

We spend 24 hours in a clearing outside town memorzing a teleport location.

Orhan 4 Day 21 TE 6054

We find the Mermaids Delight with Captain Brand. It's cursed! Are you daft man! He offers to overcharge us mightily in exchange for bringing us to the cursed place.

Narwhale with Captain Grond offers to not quite over charge us by as much if we give him a good share of everything we find.

Master Kinsale, owner of a large cargo vessel, will sell his huge boat to Oathar, but Oathar is unclear he can find enough sailors willing to be cursed for money.

This leaves a fixer-upper that they can purchase. Ugh.

Imre meets a beggar (James the woodworker) who has escaped from Stroane and tells us that the triumvarate has fallen and some captain of a guard or something has taken over. And it's still illegal to be an elf in Niev. Imre gives him Oathar's name and says he could get a job.

Haeraan asks an actual priest of Kour about the curse. It's very dangerous. Many adventurers don't return. Most want to climb the mountain and get the legendary treasure. He doesn't think the stuff on the island is particularly cursed, though there is some magical influence.

Haeraan has a dream. He sees: Kraken, lots and lots of undead, deathtraps, collapsing roofs above our heads, snakes, spiders, free-range fireballs, and a plague.

Orhan 4 Day 22 TE 6054

Oathar buys the fixer-upper. The Blue Wave, is a small boat. It needs some work.

James is quite impressed by our water destroying technology. Oathar makes a huge shipwright roll and the repairs go well.

Oathar then hires James on full time. Yay Oathar corp!

Orhan 4 Day 23 TE 6054

We leave with the tide. We watch out for Kraken. Kyrik ties himself to Haeraan during the sailing thing. Oathar fights to get the crew going, but they develop a routing after a while.

Come afternoon, we find dolphins! Cool!

Then the dolphins vanish. We look around. Yup, there's the Kraken! Oh dear. Kraken powers activate!

The sea roils and four giant tentacles attack! A bunch of tenticles rise from the sea and attacks the ship and us. We strike back. Kyrik gets crushed a bit, but we drive the terror of the deep off.

After we drive the Kraken away, Haeraan is thrown overboard. He notices a light glowing deep beneath the sea. He can't really figure it out, so he gets back on the ship.

Finally, we are convinced it is a sunken ship with a light coming out of its side. Leaving D. in charge of the anchored vessel, we head down. (After many waterlungs and potions of waterbreathing.)

In the ships hold, there are coins scattered all along the bottom. The chest has a chandalier inside that is casting utterlight.

We loot like mad.

We head back up and D. is relieved of command.

Oathar has everyone give thanks to Neela for not being et at sea.

The dolphins come back. They seem happy.

We sail on.

Orhan 4 Day 25 TE 6054

We arrive at the North of the island. Lo! It is the remains of a small artificial bay. We sail in and find the ruins of a town. Haeraan thinks it's an undead town. Hmmm... Skeletons and ghosts and a lich.

We anchor the boat in the bay, and once more give command to D. We longboat to shore. No wait, we need six people on the island, so we bring her after all.

It's a ruined town. We notice tracks right there on shore though. Like someone unloaded a bunch of crates and pack animal and headed inland. Weird.

Haeraan arranges a battle plan. It's a great plan. It involves fighting undead and finally getting the lich.

We head in. There are some skeletons and zombies. We crush them. We get most of the way to the lair. In we head! Woo.

It's a large abandoned public function sort of building. Standing at the entrance are two skeletons and two zombies. Oathar fireballs them. They die.

We head in. We head down to the lich's lair. Woo!

A bunch of decaying rotted corpses are lying about. Oathar softens them up with a fireball. Then we bash them and they die. We head through and down.

A pair of ghosts glide towards us. Haeraan blows them up with word.

We move on.

The Lich comes. It's terrible. Mass Distortions, Utterdark, and all kinds of other stuff. Icky-icky-ick.

We finally kill it, but several of us are cursed. We summon the god construct to uncurse us. (D. and Kyrik are still cursed. Sniff!) We loot as we leave. We head back to the surface. D. and Kyrik are burned by the sun!!! Oh no!

We wrap them up in darkness and head back to the ship. Oh woe! They seem to stay cursed.
