About the artists:

Sallyanne Powers, soprano, a student of Robert Honeysucker, has sung in many local musical productions, including five at MIT, and recently made her solo recital debut in Killian Hall at MIT. She is the soprano section leader/soloist of a local church. Sally sings a wide variety of musical styles, including Irish folk songs, Broadway, and Gilbert and Sullivan as well as opera. Her specialty, however, is Swing Era torch songs that require crooning in the style of Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby. At MIT, Sally is the Local Technical Expert for the Dewey Library.

Marion Leeds Carroll, soprano, holds degrees from Barnard College and the Mannes College of Music. Her teachers and coaches have included H. Wesley Balk, Nico Castel, D'Anna Fortunato, Boris Goldovsky, and Dan Merriman. Marion made her operatic and recital debuts in New York City, and has performed and directed opera and Gilbert and Sullivan in New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. At MIT, Marion is a Senior Secretary for the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Noriko Yasudo, pianist, is a native of Osaka, Japan. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Piano from the Osaka College of Music and was for many years a member of the Osaka Opera Company and Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. She received her Artist Diploma in harpsichord and was named Outstanding Graduating Student from Longy School of Music in 1996. She has worked with Opera New England and Boston Lyric Opera.
