MLK Visiting Professor Nomination Procedure
- Faculty member writes letter of nomination to Department Head.
- Department Head endorses nomination and forwards it to Dean for his approval who then sends it to Provost.
- Nomination should include:
--Plan of Engagement for the visitor
--Candidate's CV
--Budget (questions re: budget, call Stephanie George in the Office of the Provost) x3-0181 (sgeorge@mit.edu)
--Name of Departmental mentor for the candidate
This nomination will be reviewed by the Provost and Chancellor. Upon approval, the Department Head should send an offer letter to the candidate stating terms of appointment, and in turn request a letter of acceptance confirming dates of visit from the candidate.
If an interview trip is requested/needed, the Provost's Office will cover reasonable costs.
Doreen S. Morris, Office of the Provost, (doreen@mit.edu, Room 3-231, x3-1985) should be copied on all correspondence.
Upon receipt of a letter of acceptance (from the candidate), an appointment form should be forwarded to Doreen S. Morris. She will then arrange (via Stephanie George, Administrative Officer in the Office of the Provost) for a transfer of necessary funds to the Department.
