mogaphoto is a photography website designed, developed, and maintained by Steve Moga. This website is a personal visual diary, a travel journal, and a place for thoughts on cities. Nearly all of the photos that appeared on the site to prior to December 30, 2005 were created by scanning color prints. Since then, all digital.
The images presented here are almost always full-frame with minimal Photoshop adjustments.
In making these photographs, I used a 35mm film camera- initially, an early 80s Minolta; later, a Nikon N80. In my current work, I use a digital SLR, the Nikon D70s. From time to time, I post the work of friends and relatives.
My interests in photography are directly related to my current course of study in urban planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Creating photographs provides a way to investigate places, and reflect on them, as well as a way to illustrate what something or someone looks like or to try to make something beautiful, poetic, or meaningful.
Many of these photographs are depictions of public outdoor places and landscapes. I find that I photograph these places in my own town and away from home. I aspire to create photographs that show the relationship between people and place. | |
