The MIT Online Science, Technology, and Engineering Community (MOSTEC) is an online education and enrichment program, free of charge to students, that extends from the summer into the winter as students submit their college applications. Students complete online coursework and projects in science, engineering, and technical writing during the summer Academic Phase (July – August). When the summer ends, students enter the Enrichment Phase (August – January) and continue to learn more about science and engineering, interact with college faculty and staff, and receive online mentorship from undergraduates, graduate students, and industry professionals. Students also have the access to ask admissions and financial aid questions in the Admissions Corner, which is run by admissions office staff. Via this online community, students will become a part of a rich, exciting network of highly talented and motivated high school seniors from across the United States.
MOSTEC serves to develop a cohort of students who are equipped to major successfully in technical disciplines. Students are supported by a staff of positive, enthusiastic, and like-minded role models with experience in science and engineering.
MOSTEC students are invited to attend an exclusive conference at MIT where they will be able to explore MIT's campus firsthand and interact face-to-face with MIT faculty. The conference is an integral part of MOSTEC, and all students are expected to attend. The tentative date of this conference is August 6-11, 2012. For more information on the conference, click here.
