The sun was shining brightly this morning. Today was Jessica's and Julie's first full day – hence they got a safety lecture, shot gun training, and the ATV training. As a group, we met to discuss the planned cataloging and inventory activities for the rest of the field season.

The MIT team!

Pascal, Hans, and Sasa have spent the last couple of days switching the tires on the Humvee to tracks. They finally finished today, which then allowed us to start the inventory of the Humvee. Part of this inventory involved sorting through the old emergency food that used to be in the Humvee, discarding food that was no longer edible (which basically was anything open), and consolidating the emergency food into one 12-man days supply. Tomorrow Sarah and Jaemyung will work with Pascal to complete the rest of the Humvee inventory.

Julie and Jessica conducted their first interview about excursion; they interviewed Paula and John, from the University of Aberdeen , who went down to Trinity Lake this morning to collect some samples. The second observation was following the Hamilton Sundstrand team. Today, they unpacked their prototype space suit (it is intact!) and they are planning their first EVA (extravehicular activity) with Jeff Jones, a flight surgeon from NASA Johnson Space Center .
