Who can apply to MSBP?
Starting in the Summer of 2007, MSBP is aimed at serving boys entering the eight grade in Cambridge, Boston, Allston, and Brighton public schools who also enjoy playing baseball.

I go to a private school. Can I apply?
We receive financial support to provide programming for public school students in Boston, Cambridge and Lawrence. We do not accept students who attend private, parochial or METCO suburban high schools. However, there are a number of other enrichment programs that may be of interest to you.

How many students do you accept each year?
We want to make sure that our students get as much individualized attention as possible. This summer, the program will consist of a class of 40 boys who will become active learners in mathematics and the sciences through the motivation from their interest in baseball.

There's homework?!!?!
Yes. We take homework very seriously as a representation of our students' motivation and as a tool for strengthening their math and science skills. One of our goals is to help each MSBP student increase their academic ability. Homework to reinforce the day’s topics may include short readings, problem-solving exercises, and analyzing Major League game statistics.

Homework completion is required.

I am involved in a summer league. What kind of commitment is required?
We have taken into account the times for the little league summer baseball games. That is why our program runs Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. Thus, we leave enough time to get to afternoon baseball games. In a case where more time may be needed, a student may leave after 3 pm, but we wish to keep these occurrences at a minimum.

How much does the program cost?
The average cost for each MSBP student is a little over $3,000 for four weeks during the summer. However, we are able to provide all of our participants with scholarships to cover all programs, and meals through the generosity of our sponsors and MIT.
