MIT Symphony
Orchestra
Adam Boyles, director. Founded in
1884, this full-size orchestra is comprised of MIT and Wellesley
students. It performs 4 concerts per academic year (Oct./Dec./Mar./May)
in Kresge Auditorium. From J.S. Bach to John Harbison, MITSO performs
a broad range of challenging repertoire each concert season. Student
and professional soloists are sometimes featured as are MIT student
compositions. The orchestra sponsors an annual Concerto
Competition in February. Rehearsals are held Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 7:30-10pm in Kresge Auditorium. Membership
is by audition only. May be taken for credit: 21M421.
