The MIT Wind Ensemble
The MIT Wind Ensemble, directed by
Frederick Harris (fharris@mit.edu),
offers advanced students the opportunity to study and perform literature
from the Renaissance through the 20th century, for octet to full
wind ensemble. Repertoire may include Mozart, Dvorak, and contemporary
serenades, brass ensemble music from Gabrieli to Schuller, and various
mixed media including strings. The Wind Ensemble also occasionally
commissions works for flexible instrumentation and features student
or professional soloists. Four concerts are presented each year
on campus and at venues throughout Boston. Rehearsals are held Mondays
and Wednesdays 7:30 - 10:00 PM in Kresge Auditorium. Membership
is by audition only. May be taken for credit: 21M426.
