The Rosalind Denny Lewis Music Library
The Lewis Music Library acquires materials that support the music curriculum and serve the reference, research, and recreational needs of the MIT community.
- Collection:
15,000 books, 34,000 scores, 14,000 compact discs, 14,000 other sound recordings, 600 DVDs, 500 other video recordings, 75 print journal subscriptions, and 75 e-journals (via Vera). Contains a wide range of music including classical, jazz, electronic, world music, pop, folk & film music.
- Loan periods:
Books and scores circulate for 28 days, CDs and DVDs for 3 days to members of the MIT community (see list of loan periods)
- Facilities:
Listening facilities include 22 listening carrels, a listening lounge area, group viewing/listening room, photocopier, digital piano, study lounge area and two rooms for group study. Visit the library's virtual tour!
- Reserves:
The library maintains a large reserve collection for class assignments at the circulation desk. Electronic reserves are provided for a few music classes. Reference
help is available Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm.
