Michael Ouellette

Michael Ouellette was trained in Classics at Brown University and completed graduate studies in Comparative Literature at Harvard University. While teaching at St. Mary’s College in Maryland, he became deeply interested in theater and subsequently enrolled in Southern Methodist University’s Professional Theater Training Program. After earning an MFA, he worked as an actor and director in Chicago, where he was Artistic Director of Bailiwick Repertory. He also taught at the University of Illinois. Since returning to the East Coast he has taught at Skidmore College and, from 1989, at MIT, where he has directed plays ranging from Aristophanes through Shakespeare to Wedekind. Most recently he has acted at the New Repertory Theater in Newton, MA, and at the Williamstown Theater Festival, where he was for several years the Acting Instructor for the Apprentice Program. In 1996, he received the Gyorgy Kepes Fellowshop Prize from MIT’s Council for the Arts.
