The Mujeres Board

President: Gianna Garza

Hi!, I'm Gianna Garza, the president of Mujeres Latinas for Fall 2019. I am from all over the place: El Paso, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Bay Area, CA! My family is all from Mexico, primarily Torreon and Zacatecas. I lived in Senior House for two years and now live off-campus in a house with friends. I am a Course 7 (Biology) and 10B (Chemical-Biological Engineering) with a minor in Latin American Studies, and will graduate in Spring 2020. I took a year off from school to work at a Cambridge-area biotech company and discovered a love for bouldering :) I love reading, hiking, and doing logic puzzles. I welcome anyone of any identity to Mujeres activities!

Vice President: Julianna Rodriguez

Just a reggaeton-loving girl from San Diego, also an avid rock climber and backpacker. I'm studying course 2A mechanical engineering and international development with a variety of language classes to go with it. I love playing sports, dancing all night, and meeting people from all over the world!

Treasurer: Mariana Avila

My name is Mariana Avila, and I am the treasurer for Mujeres Latinas. I am a sophomore studying mechanical engineering. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela but currently live in the greater Chicago area. Outside of classes, I love to dance and play music on the piano and guitar, and I am involved in the Catholic community on campus.

Webmaster/Publicity Chair: Diana Flores

Hi!! I'm Diana Flores and I'm the webmaster and publicity chair for Mujeres Latinas!! As you might expect from a webmaster, I'm course 6-3(Computer Science), but my true passion is finding cute/funny gifs to send out in emails to Mujeres Latinas :P Aside from that, I love spending time with family and friends, watching Netflix, playing and watching soccer, dancing, and being in or around nature!

Secretary: Allison Serio

I'm Allison Serio, secretary of Mujeres Latinas, which means I keep minutes and keep our files up to date. I'm a junior majoring in computer science and minoring in architecture, and I'm originally from California and now live in East Campus. I really like to paint, do my radio show, and try to cook! I joined Mujeres Latinas my sophomore fall, and found it very supportive for not only latinx students but to all MIT students, giving MIT a thoughtful and diverse community that we all share. I hope you join us in our various events and welcome you to our familia!

Amor Chair: Gabriela Rodriguez

My name is Gabriela Rodriguez; I go by Gaby. My parents are from Venezuela, but I was born in Cleveland, Ohio. I'm studying finance and economics. I love to watch movies and my favorite tv shows in my free time. I also love to eat and spend time with friends and family.

All Member: Briana McRae

Hi! I'm Briana :) I'm a rising senior majoring in course 9 and minoring in course 6. During my time at MIT, Mujeres has been a great community that has allowed me to explore my Latina identity through reflection, conversation, and celebration. Aside from Mujeres, I am involved in other groups on campus, like Black Women's Alliance, Ridonkulous, and DanceTroupe.
