ASSEMBLY LISTING OF SEGMENT >spec>on>7138.pbf>bjm_data_.alm ASSEMBLED ON: 03/05/85 0839.8 mst Tue OPTIONS USED: list ASSEMBLED BY: ALM Version 6.6 November 1982 ASSEMBLER CREATED: 09/21/83 1227.3 mst Wed 1 " *********************************************************** 2 " * * 3 " * Copyright, (C) Honeywell Information Systems Inc., 1983 * 4 " * * 5 " *********************************************************** 6 7 " DESCRIPTION: 8 " bjm_data_'s static section is used to keep track of 9 " per-process values specific to the before journal manager. This 10 " includes invocation error info for the BJM primitives. Currently, 11 " all per-process values except bj_txt_ptr are kept here, the txt ptr 12 " is referenced directly by transaction_manager_ as it really 13 " corresponds to the TDT, even though TM may only read it. 14 " 15 " bj_code: contains the value of a code which explains why a 16 " before journal manager support routine called 17 " bj_report_err. It is available to the BJM primitive so 18 " that it may be passed back to the caller of BJM services. 19 " bj_default_error_label: the address to where a before journal 20 " manager support routine can transfer upon encountering an 21 " error. 22 " bj_exit_err: contains the address of the location to which 23 " a before journal manager support routine should return 24 " if an unexpected error is encountered. The transfer, 25 " implemented by a non-local goto, is not performed by the 26 " support routine: the support routine calls bj_report_err 27 " which complains and performs the goto. 28 " bj_operation: identifies the current BJ primitive invoked. 29 " Its values is the name of the primitive. It is set to 30 " null if there is no current primitive invoked. 31 " bj_ppt_ptr: the location of the per-process bjm table. 32 " bj_pst_ptr: the location of the per-system bjm table. 33 " bj_rollback_buffer_ptr: the location of the bjm per-process 34 " rollback buffer. 35 " initialized: a cell that indicates whether or not BJM 36 " has been invoked in this process (0 => not yet). 37 " lock_manager_timeout: the amount of time we wait for a lock to be 38 " locked via lock manager. 39 " 40 " HISTORY: 41 " Written by Mike Pandolf, 08/18/82. 42 " 43 " Modified: 44 " 08/20/82 by M. Pandolf: added initialized. 45 " 10/22/82 by M. Pandolf: added lock_manager_timeout. 46 " 11/22/83 by Lee A. Newcomb: renamed to bjm_data_ to be consistent with 47 " the other per-process data segments. Added bj_ppt_ptr, 48 " bj_pst_ptr, and bj_rollback_buffer_ptr from dm_data_. 49 " 50 " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " 51 000000 52 name bjm_data_ 53 NO FATAL ERRORS ----------------------------------------------------------- Historical Background This edition of the Multics software materials and documentation is provided and donated to Massachusetts Institute of Technology by Group BULL including BULL HN Information Systems Inc. as a contribution to computer science knowledge. This donation is made also to give evidence of the common contributions of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Bell Laboratories, General Electric, Honeywell Information Systems Inc., Honeywell BULL Inc., Groupe BULL and BULL HN Information Systems Inc. to the development of this operating system. Multics development was initiated by Massachusetts Institute of Technology Project MAC (1963-1970), renamed the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in the mid 1970s, under the leadership of Professor Fernando Jose Corbato. Users consider that Multics provided the best software architecture for managing computer hardware properly and for executing programs. Many subsequent operating systems incorporated Multics principles. Multics was distributed in 1975 to 2000 by Group Bull in Europe , and in the U.S. by Bull HN Information Systems Inc., as successor in interest by change in name only to Honeywell Bull Inc. and Honeywell Information Systems Inc. . ----------------------------------------------------------- Permission to use, copy, modify, and distribute these programs and their documentation for any purpose and without fee is hereby granted, provided that the below copyright notice and historical background appear in all copies and that both the copyright notice and historical background and this permission notice appear in supporting documentation, and that the names of MIT, HIS, BULL or BULL HN not be used in advertising or publicity pertaining to distribution of the programs without specific prior written permission.
