A. Weeldreyer: Initially written. 43* 44* 80-05-01 Jim Gray: Modified to delete unused data items, and to 45* add comments. 46* 47* 80-06-23 Jim Gray: Modified to change max_string_size to 4096, 48* from 50000, for a more resonable maximum attribute size and to 49* add max_line_size, to separate the function of the two data 50* items. 51* 52* 80-10-01 Lindsey Spratt: Changed the dsmd_version_number from 4 53* to 5. 54* 55* 80-11-03 Jim Gray: Modified to add temp_seg_name item, so the 56* routines search, close, and delete_se have a common place to get 57* this name used in managing the temp segs on a per opening basis. 58* 59* 80-11-06 Jim Gray: Modified to add current_version_status entry, 60* so that display_mrds_dm can handle when not to display file info, 61* and mrds_rst_create_db can properly init the version_status 62* structure. 63* 64* 80-11-07 Jim Gray: Modified to add submodel_dir_name entry, so 65* mrds and users will have a standard to refer to. 66* 67* 80-12-09 Jim Gray: added control_segment_name which is now 68* db.control as part of the conversion from r-u to r-s-m-d scope 69* modes. 70* 71* 81-01-14 Rickie E. Brinegar: changed max_and_groups from 10 to 72* 100. This should only affect the predicate structure in 73* mrds_dsl_optimize. It will now allocate 100 pointers instead of 74* 10 pointers. 75* 76* 81-03-20 Jim Gray: combined mrds_data_ and mdbm_data_ tables, 77* also removed unused data items. 78* 79* 81-03-26 Jim Gray : added max_vfile_wait_time to be used with the 80* -share option at open time for the vfile attach descriptions. 81* 82* 81-04-22 Jim Gray : removed max_db_open as part of removing 83* module mrds_dm_open_table_mgr from mrds. 84* 85* 86* 81-04-24 Jim Gray : changed max_dbs value from 64 to 128, to 87* allow up to 128 simultaneous opening of databases. This will not 88* up the 64 limit on version 3 databases. 89* 90* 81-04-25 Jim Gray : changed length of temp_seg_name to allow 91* three digits in the db_index part of the name, for getting up to 92* 128 openings. 93* 94* 81-04-30 Jim Gray : changed max_relations to 256, as part of 95* changing max rels that cmdb can create, and that are usable. 96* 97* 81-05-19 Jim Gray : changed max_select_items, max_pred_nodes, and 98* max_pred_ops to 256, to agree with change of max_attributes to 99* 256. 100* 101* 81-07-02 Jim Gray : added statistics update mrds data items, 102* indicating when next update is to be done in terms of relation 103* references and real time. The update count value is set to number 104* of possible tuple variables, so that max tup vars on one rel only 105* causes one call to mu_get_rel_size for that relation. The update 106* time was set to five minutes initially. 107* 108* 81-07-06 Jim Gray : added size of small relations to be updated 109* once per S.E. to reduce problems with large percentage changes 110* for this case. Also reduced update count to 10, since things are 111* now managed on an S.E. reference, rather than tuple variable 112* reference manner. 113* 114* 81-07-22 Jim Gray : added key_search_threshold for the strategy 115* logic in mrds_dsl_gen_srch_prog. 116* 117* 81-08-27 Davids: changed max_select_items, max_pred_ops, and 118* max_pred_notes to 256 from 100. 119* 120* 81-12-02 Davids: changed max_and_terms to 100 from 20. 121* 122* 82-03-15 R. Lackey : Added valid_rel_and_attr_name_chars 123* 124* 82-06-03 Mike Kubicar : Changed quiesce_wait (the default quiesce wait 125* time to 0. Default is now don't wait. 126* 127* 83-02-14 R. Harvey : removed the following: file_id_len_pad, inv_thresh, 128* key_search_threshold, max_children, max_kattr_len, max_vfile_wait_time. 129* 130* 83-05-19 Davids: Added the saved_res_version element. 131* 132* 83-10-24 Mike Kubicar : Added $max_tids_returned_per_call, the maximum 133* number of tuple ids to return during calls to 134* relation_manager_$get_tuple_ids. 135* 136* 84-05-18 Bert Moberg : Changed lock_wait_time to 900 137* 138* 84-09-07 John Hergert: Added caller_compile for dsl_$compile. Changed 139* saved_res_version to "rslt0001" 140* 141* 85-04-08 Thanh Nguyen: Added max_safe_tids_returned_per_call with value 142* of one. 143* 144* 85-04-14 Thanh Nguyen: Changed saved_res_version to "rslt0002". 145**/ 146 1 1 /* BEGIN INCLUDE FILE cds_args.incl.pl1 */ 1 2 1 3 dcl 1 cds_args based aligned, 1 4 2 sections (2), 1 5 3 p ptr, /* pointer to data for text/static section */ 1 6 3 len This donation is made also to give evidence of the common contributions of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Bell Laboratories, General Electric, Honeywell Information Systems Inc., Honeywell BULL Inc., Groupe BULL and BULL HN Information Systems Inc. to the development of this operating system. Multics development was initiated by Massachusetts Institute of Technology Project MAC (1963-1970), renamed the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in the mid 1970s, under the leadership of Professor Fernando Jose Corbato. Users consider that Multics provided the best software architecture for managing computer hardware properly and for executing programs. Many subsequent operating systems incorporated Multics principles. Multics was distributed in 1975 to 2000 by Group Bull in Europe , and in the U.S. by Bull HN Information Systems Inc., as successor in interest by change in name only to Honeywell Bull Inc. and Honeywell Information Systems Inc. . ----------------------------------------------------------- Permission to use, copy, modify, and distribute these programs and their documentation for any purpose and without fee is hereby granted, provided that the below copyright notice and historical background appear in all copies and that both the copyright notice and historical background and this permission notice appear in supporting documentation, and that the names of MIT, HIS, BULL or BULL HN not be used in advertising or publicity pertaining to distribution of the programs without specific prior written permission.
