Scales: The scales included in this year's kits are delicate, sensitive instruments. They're fragile. Some teams' scales are already in need of recalibration, or have failed altogether. We're dealing with this on a case-by-case basis. Here are some tips for keeping your scale happy:

• Armor plating. Keep the cover on it when not in use.
• Feathers and marshmallows. Use the scale as it's meant to be used. Do not attempt to weigh variable loads (ex: pressing on the scale with a fingertip) or large loads (unknown masses, masses which exceed the scale's capacity).
• Be smooth. Vibration and impact are bad for the sensitive load sensor in your scale. Transport it with care, and place it carefully on your working surface. Use the rubber pad!

Update: Remember, two wrenches and some clear packing tape will be added to the tookit, but there will be no additional band-aids, duct tape, velcro, or rubber cement beyond what you have already received. There will also be ample hot glue guns available on the day of the contest, and your team will be alotted 5 hot glue sticks. You will also have one 6' x 2.5' table set up in your team's area and one available to you in addition, should you need it. Finally, set up in your team area will be a Workmate-style workbench.
