(Jules) Leon Chifflot
The drawings for "A Roman Villa" and the capitals for the "Baptistere de Saint Jean de Latran" are examples of work gathered by the Department of Architecture after Ware's departure for Columbia University in 1881. Leon Chifflot was a master of several media and modes of representation, as evidenced here by the clarity of his striking, colored pencil drawings of capitals and the complex, multi-leveled and multi-colored "Roman Villa," rendered in pen and ink, pastels, and colored pencil.
