MIT competed in the Roger Williams University Tournament on February 8, 2003.  MIT finished third out of five teams in a long day of volleyball with a 2-2 record.  In their first match of the day, MIT defeated Johnson and Wales for the second time this season despite dropping a game.  MIT next faced Rivier college and picked up their second straight victory in three games.  Facing rival Roger Williams, MIT struggled and lost 3-0.  MIT finished the day with a match against Stevens Tech.  Exhausted from the long day of volleyball, MIT never found any rhythm and lost in three games.  Captain Ramon Partida led the Engineers and received all-tournament honors.

Roger Williams Wins Own Invitational

Hawks claim four wins on the day

2/8/2003 -Bristol, RI - In the midst of a nor'easter, the Roger Williams University Hawks shoveled a path from their dorms to the Paolino Rec Center and snowplowed their competition. RWU took home the championship of their own tourney in classic style, giving up only one set all day.

The six-team tourney dropped down to five as SUNY New Paltz decided not to brave the storm and postponed the Odeneal matchup on Friday night. With the roads cleared, Johnson and Wales, MIT, #13 Rivier and #10 Steven's Tech made it up for the Saturday Invitational. The tourney went to round-robin format with RWU winning 4-0, Steven's 3-1, MIT 2-2, Rivier 1-3 and JWU 0-4.

#7 RWU took care of business against #10 Steven's Tech, 3-0 (30-17, 33-31, 30-27). Next up the entire Hawks bench saw time against a young JWU team winning easily 3-0 (30-12, 30-20, 30-17).

In the third round, RWU faced MIT, a team that they had defeated earlier in the week in Cambridge, MA. Roger Williams handled the Engineers 3-0 (30-24, 30-23, 31-29).

Finally the RWU squad tackled the pesky #13 Rivier College team in it's last match. RWU was on empty as Rivier snagged game two from the powerful Hawks. The match ended 3-1 (30-23, 19-30, 30-23, 30-23). RWU's Jack Delehanty nailed his 2nd triple double of the season with 48 assists, 11 digs and 10 blocks in the 4 game effort.
