Head Coach: Steve Lane

Head coach Steve Lane is entering his fourth year as the head coach of the men's varsity team.  Steve Lane has been involved with the MIT volleyball program since he started as a volunteer assistant for the men's varsity volleyball at MIT in 1995-96. Then in 1997-98 Steve was hired as an assistant coach to the men's program. In 1998-1999, Steve was hired to the primary assistant coach position and to direct recruiting for the men's volleyball program.  In 1999 Steve took over as head volleyball coach.

Steve grew up in Colorado, and graduated with a BA in political science from Williams College (Williamstown, MA). He played club volleyball there, and ran varsity cross-country and track. After graduation he taught history at St. Paul's School in New Hampshire, where he was head girls' volleyball coach and assistant track and field coach.

Several years later, he travelled to Maine to coach women's volleyball, and men's and women's track and field (specializing in the weight throws -- shot put, discus, hammer, and javelin) at Bowdoin College in Maine. While at Bowdoin he also founded and coached their first men's volleyball club.  Steve currently teaches history at Concord Carlisle high school where he coaches the cross country and track teams.
