Time Serial Portraits
of M.W.P. Strandberg

As I related in the Bachrach Portraits introduction, one of my sisters had a portrait made when she was a couple years older than I am today, in 2001. But she decided she looked so old she sent another photo taken 5 years earlier along with the new one. It is not a simple truth that earlier portraits are the most flattering. Aging can develop character of the face, and some blemishes do disappear. As a case in point, I wore glasses for much of my life. Then, in 1969 I had cataracts and an operation removed my crystalline lens in my eyes, Technology had not yet produced lens implants, but I was fitted with contact lenses which reduced spectacles to things I used for reading. And I read quite well without them, in any case. So early portraits of me show me wearing glasses, except for when my vanity prompted me not to wear them during the portrait making session. So, for honesty, I have assembled four early portraits and offer them for viewing here. By clicking on the thumbnail images below you will be shown a large version of that image. To see what these images morphed into by 2001, you can visit my Bachrach Portraits Web page. ....
