On the final draft of the article Beverly Dudley, the editor, wrote: It would have been a lot easier if you had stuck with the original Gyratron. My laboratory notebook of that time had the label Spintron crossed out, Gyratron crossed out, then Versitron intact. But time showed that should be crossed out and the title Maser inserted. Dudley also included, with apologies, the following limerick.
A most useful device is the Versitron,
Whose inventor is ever immersed upon
By crystals, for him to discourse upon.
