Blue Sachet
Blue Sachet, a medium jazz piece, was composed for an 18 piece big-band. It was composed around a specific fictitious story, which is outlined below. Remember, to view the .mz score, you need the Mozart Viewer. Right click and "Save as" to open the file properly.
The idea of this piece is focused around a woman, dressed in fine red garments and with the light scent of perfume, sitting alone at a dinner table, while the room buzzes around her with laughter and talk. The musicians on the stage strike up a slow tune, as she takes a sip of the wine- sweet, tingling. The night continues on, marbled with happiness and discord, as potential suitors come and go. Another sip, another hour, and then she sees him- they make eye contact, she smiles, and beckons. He joins her for a dance, a waltz; they glide beautifully across the floor, until the final note rings in the air. She asks him to join her at the table, and he obliges. The two talk about the silliest things, the most interesting things- the waiter comes by, and they shoo him away. It is not long before time makes itself apparent, and she realizes that she must go. He asks her to stay a while longer, but she cannot, and leaves with a wave and a smile.
