Positions

Potential candidate should email a cover letter, a CV (including contact information for three references) to Ms. Mai Hoang at mhoangha@mit.edu.

Post-doc position on concentrated solar thermoelectric power

Tasks are geared towards developing concentrated solar thermoelectric generators. An ideal candidate should be familiar with experimental and modeling aspects of solar concentration and heat transfer. Knowledge of thermoelectrics and thermal storage is a plus. The individual should be motivated and independent, take initiative, and have good interpersonal and communication skills.

Post-doc position on nanoscale heat transfer experiments

Tasks include measurement of thermal radiation and heat conduction in nanostructures, especially near-field thermal radiation. An ideal candidate should have solid knowledge of nanoscale transport, and a strong experimental background in thermal measurements. Familiarity with vacuum, AFM cantilevers, and microfabrication is a plus. The individual should be motivated and independent, take initiative, and have good interpersonal and communication skills.

Post-doc position on polymer processing

Tasks include developing a continuous process for producing aligned polymer chains in the form of sheets or nanofiber bundles with high thermal conductivity values, design and construct the experimental platform, and characterize the polymer materials. The individual should be motivated and independent, take initiative, and have good interpersonal and communication skills.

Senior post-doc (or research scientist)

Tasks include first-principles simulations, molecular dynamics simulations of heat conduction and thermoelectric energy conversion processes in bulk materials and nanostructures, interacting with and helping the supervision of graduate students, and writing grant applications and project reports. The individual should be motivated and independent, take initiative, and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
