NanoLab Renovation

When the Institute moved to its current location in Cambridge, the Department of Mining Engineering and Metallurgy, as DMSE was then called, occupied space in Building 8, through the generosity of three alumni, Coleman du Pont, Pierre S. du Pont, and Charles Hayden. Our space was one of the original labs; it's shown on the left in an undated photograph when it was known as the Pyrometallurgy Lab and required two stories (the basement and the first floor) to accommodate equipment used in ore reduction. The center photograph shows the lab in 2000, prior to recent renovations. The lab as it appears today is shown in the photograph on the right.
