DEVELOPING A SUCCESSFUL CASE

Each student will research a case. The case should involve a successful program that combines environmental improvement and community development: to address problems of green gentrification; to promote development that benefits low-come homeowners or residents; or to engage youth in community development. Collectively, these cases will serve as a resource for the entire class during the second part of the semester. The choice of case will be developed in consultation with faculty.

All assignments are due at times and dates indicated below. Late projects will receive a reduction in grade. There will be no extensions without prior, written, consent of the instructor. The presentation and documentation of the case represent 15% of the final grade.

Select the Case

By Wednesday, March 24 choose the case that you will research and submit an abstract and preliminary bibliography (about one page in all). The abstract should describe the case you chose to investigate and put it in the context of the goals of the course.

Present the Case(s)

Be prepared to make a brief presentation of the case during class on April 12. Class presentation should be from a pdf. Submit the pdf by 8AM on April 12, so all presentations can be assembled prior to class.

The final submission is due as a pdf by Friday, April 16, in order to provide time to incorporate suggestions and critique during and after the presentation. It will be posted on the class website as a resource for the entire class.
