According to recent studies, the office park model developed decades ago is continuing to propagate in the American suburban landscape. A Brookings Institute study of office space in 13 regions between 1979 and 1999 revealed that in that period, the proportion of suburban office space expanded from 24% in 1979 to 42% twenty years later. It is becoming increasingly important for designers and planners to understand its urban and landscape implications as a significant part of the contemporary American landscape.
